Rescued From
Darkness
(VERSES:
COLOSSIANS 1:13-14)
A Reflection
Having surf
the world wide web during February and March of 2002 through some
of the darkest atheists and anti-christian websites, it did not
take long to notice the dark realm that some of these people were
trapped into. Indeed, some of these individuals display very grotesque
expression of the dominion in which they dwelled within. Written
blasphemies, symbols of hate such as upside down crosses, illustrations
of demons along with blood and skulls decorating the backdrop are
some of the characteristics of those stuck in the evil abyss of
hate, anger and high degrees of outrageous steps taken against God.
Though not all who are stuck in such open rebellion against God
have such open outward of the love of the demonic, surely these
are the symptoms at its worst stage.
This sermon
is aim towards all those who recognizes that they are in the dominion
of darkness. Obviously, some people enjoy its evil and lusts after
such ugliness. But our sermon is aimed more towards those within
the world of bleak hopelessness who wants to LEAVE AND BE SAVED
FROM IT. Certainly, there are those out there are trapped and find
getting out of it as hard and difficult. We proclaim to them: Help
is available through Jesus Christ.
Of course, the
question that frequently arises concerning help from Jesus Christ
and God is why is it that He seems so far away from me? Indeed the
separation is real. So what’s the cause of the wall of division?
Sin. Being unholy and in sin, man is separated from God and we are
condemned and can never save ourselves from the dark hopelessness
in which we dwell. Left to ourselves, we are helpless. But if God
came to us, He would have to fulfill His just nature by punishing
us. There seem almost to be no way out. Fortunately, God had Jesus
come into the world to share the truth in the upstream of error
and have him DIE for our sins on the cross so that our sins can
be justly forgiven.
It is therefore
through Jesus Christ “in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness
of sins.?(Colossians 1:14) To be SAVED from the ultimate ending
of being lost in the world of darkness is to be SAVED through Jesus
from God’s judgment of your sins too. “For he has rescued us from
the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kindom of the Son
he loves.?Colossians 1:13)

That you might
be saved,
